The Saga of the Stupid Previous Owner Continues..

we have been having problems with our brand new heating system and it turs out to be something that should have been picked up on at sales / installation / and any of the 7 services calls. A new breaker and another electric line had to be run.

There was an exisiting wire in the basement that has been just hanging down from the rafters. J and I thought that since it was run in conduit through the garage into the basement that maybe it could be used....

Turns out, unbeknownst to us, it was a live 220v...just hanging in the freaking basement. No electric caps, no junction box, no nothing - I mean just bloody hanging there begging to make contact with something to start a fire. We had surmized that the preivous owner had used it to run a hot tub...and we were right. However, we had no idea that it as live or even connecting in the breaker box. WTF?

And if you had seen this thing it looked lke someone has just taken a knife to it to sever the connection. Honestly, it looked like it was something someone had run and forgot about.

I can not wait to see what other F'ed up shit we have to find in this house. I am truely begining to believe if there is 7 ways to f something up - the previous owner found exponential ways to f things up. WHO LEAVES A 220V WIRE JUST HANGING THERE!!!
