Just call me Pepe

So today is my Rolling Rock birthday - the big 33. I woke up on the right side of the bed, the coffee maker did it's job and my coffe was ready. It was a good morning and all was going well.

I had a meeting downtown and jumped on the Metro. I had to stand the whole ride because the train was packed like the sardine express. My train was delayed because of a disabled train ahead of us and it was right about that time that I noticed people were actively moving away from me. Then two guys who were speaking in english started talking a different language and glancing at me as they exited the train. I thought it was weird but it was also a stop where a lot of people get off.

Then it hit me - that oh so wonderful smell of skunk. I could have died - no wonder all these people were moving away from me - I smelled like a skunk. How could I have missed that one! But I was not totally sure that I smelled like a skunk so I just stood there kind of smelling my coat as inconspicuaously as posible. I was certain that I smelled like skunk.

When I arrived at my clients site I asked them if they could smell skunk - and of course they could. How mortifing! I will forever be known as the girl on the metro the smelled like a skunk!

Tosha! Tosha! No Tosha

If you know my dog Tosha you know that she is big, hyper, and DUMB. In the 8 years she has been with me she has never had a health problem, cleared many a coffee table, earned the name destructo dog, and has never caught an animal...

So here we are, it is Friday night, the beginning of a three day weekend (Everyone together now - ahh a three day weekend.) and I am on my deck with the dog. All of the sudden she is off like a shot, flying across the yard. The dog is fast, but I have never seen her move like that. She is after something!!

At fist I thought it was a fox - and I have a special place in my heart for foxes. So there I am on the deck screaming Tosha! Tosha! No Tosha! And the little dark figure runs to the step of the deck and all I saw was a white stripe... OH SHIT!!! to late.

The smell of a skunk is absolutely the worst thing I have ever smelled. You know the wiff you might get when a skunk has become roadkill - yeah that does not even begin to compare. NOT EVEN CLOSE> It is the most acidic, caustic, burning smell in the world and Tosha took a direct hit. Her eyes were tearing and I swear there was blood in her mouth and the smell. She was having a hard time breathing. So as I am on the phone with the vet I realize that I too smell like skunk. Off to the vet Jeff and I go trying to control our gag reflex with skunk dog in the back of my truck.

So long story short - she checked out at the vet - no bites. We all smell like a skunk, my truck smells like skunk, and tomorrow we get to try and get de-skunked.

The snow is melting....

Everywhere else except Mt. Garagemore. We still have a lot of snow and it does not seem to be melting as fast as it is other places. We may still be able to go sledding this weekend - unless the rain really does come.

Twiggy (remember Twiggy the pest squirrel) has been spotted with all of the snow. OK so it was his footprints that I spotted in the snow. He has been back to eat the bird food. And Bambi has been back at the bird feeders too. I am not sure I want to encourage this... something about Bambi, ticks and 15 feet from my back door just is not working for me.

Nothing humorous to report I am affraid... I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day!!
